The studio's rear door led out on to the loading dock and the car park, and leaning on the wall by a couple of the Outside Broadacast trucks that lived there James picked up their earlier conversation again.

"So, what was that you were saying earlier then .. about something going on?"

"Well it's nothing I can actually put my finger on .."Hamster replied, "but I'm sure there's something we aren't supposed to be aware of .."

Just then Larksong joined them, appearing through the studio door.

"And what are you two cooking up now?"

Surprisingly earnestly even for him, James half-challenged him with "Jerome, seriously for once .." and the others knew it was indeed seriously-meant because it was only the second time ever that James has managed to squeak Jezza's actual name out. The first time was when he couldn't believe it.

He continued ".. seriously for once, have you felt anything odd happening wirth the programme recently?"

"Being serious .." began Jero ...  ezza, ".. well, funny you should ask ..  No! Now stop fannying around and .."

This time it was Hampton interrupting him "No, really seriously! I've been getting the feeling for a while that something's going on and we're in the dark about it. A strong feeling. And apparently James has too."

"Oh you're just imagining .. "Jezza started, but Hampton quickly cut him short.

"It's not imagination, there's definitely something happening beneath the surface, I'm just not sure what's .."

But he was suddenly interrupted as the door to Outside Broaadcast Truck number 1 opened and Sting appeared, the anonymous, mysterious, ofern bewildering and always challenging expert driver whose job it was to set targets, break records, epitomise driver-perfection on all and any vehicle thrown at him, deeply embarass those who were brave enough and foolish enough to think they could take him on, and help litttle kittens across the motorway.

All of this he did without ever the slightest pause, and with a degree of kitten-skill and driving skill, control. reaction, anticipation and more that was freakily unmeasureable and way beyond any challenge.

Some said he must have emerged from a nuclear accident in a genetics laboratory next to an experimental engineering facility just across the street from a secret advanced automotive research group's prototype-assembly clean-room, and emerged a fusion of all three.

Others said he must have emerged from a nuclear accident in a genetics laboratory next to an experimental engineering facility just across the street from a secret advanced automotive research group's prototype-assembly clean-room, and emerged a fusion of all three.

But all they knew was ... well, nothing!

He walked past them holding a video-pak, but there was no acknowledgement from him of their presence or even their existance. They turned with some strange feeling of reverence and watched as he made his way through the door and in to the studio, Hammond trying a feeble wave and a weak  "Morning .." as he passed but he needn't have bothered.

"I didn't know he was in there?" said James, "didn't expect he'd be around today, he's not in these bits."

"No that's normal" Larksong pointed out, ".. pretty much all his stuff is Outside Broadcasts so he'll be in the O.B. truck on and off regardless getting sorted.

Hampton and gray made 'oh yes, of course' noises, and Larksongs checked his watch saying  "Anyway look .. ten minutes .. need to go and get the next item done ..."
